Our Residence

Comfort and Care When Home Is No Longer the Best Option

While most of our patients receive care in their homes or in the community, some individuals need a different kind of support.

Home, or whose care needs are more than loved ones can manage, our six-bed residence at the Nina K. Miller Hospicare Center offers a peaceful, welcoming place to spend their final days.  Nestled on eleven serene acres atop South Hill in Ithaca, our residence features beautiful gardens, a tranquil pond, and sweeping countryside views. As New York State’s first stand-alone hospice residence, it’s a place of dignity, calm, and personalized care.

A Home Away from Home

Every detail of our residence is designed with comfort in mind. Patients stay in private rooms and are encouraged to bring meaningful items—like a favorite chair, blanket, or artwork—to make the space feel like home.
There are no visiting hour restrictions. Families are welcome to spend time with their loved one whenever they wish and can stay overnight in the room. Meals are prepared on-site with care, and our staff ensures that each resident is treated with the compassion and respect they deserve.

Dedicated and Compassionate Staff

Our residence is supported by a close-knit, expert team. Two staff members are always present, caring for no more than six patients at a time, which ensures personal attention and a deep sense of connection. Our hospice medical director is available for consultation, and volunteers contribute by preparing meals, offering companionship, and helping families feel at ease.

Understanding the Cost

Most residence stays are covered by private payment, though some insurance plans offer coverage. Medicaid is accepted for eligible individuals, and for others, we offer a sliding-scale fee. Most importantly, no one is turned away from our residence due to inability to pay.
