Programs Hospicare Offers to the Community

All programs can be offered in person or over Zoom. Our specially trained staff members will speak with your community group or class, a group of medical professionals, or at a care facility.

Join us for a reading of Tear Soup, an illustrated book that explores the different recipes that grief can take. Then together we will share a meal and talk about our experiences dealing with grief. Vegetarian soup, salad, and bread provided. Resources on hospice, palliative care, and grief support will be provided by Hospicare.

A death binder or “in case of death file” is a tool to help organize and keep all your important documents, financial records and personal wishes in one place. Preparing a death binder or file can make it much easier for your loved ones in the event of your death. Workshop provides an overview of important documents to include and ideas about how to organize them.

Join us for a special program on grief and loss. We offer a variety of special programs throughout the year on grief and loss. We also address this topic in presentations to the community. Workshops include our “Grief 101” series, “How Men Grieve” and “Coping with the Holidays”.

Grief is the natural response to profound loss and is the expression of the strong bond you had with the person who died. No two people grieve in exactly the same way, and how we express our grief is influenced by many things, such as our religious and personal beliefs, the circumstances of the death, and how we dealt with previous losses.

Participating in this programs provides you with the opportunity to share thoughts, feelings, and experiences with others in similar situations and can enhance the healing process and reduce a sense of isolation.

Talking about and preparing for the end of life can be scary. Let’s sweeten the process with delicious desserts and comradery!
